FAQs about our school
Can I visit the school unannounced to see what its like?
No – we only offer viewings of the school by appointment for security reasons. Please contact our office to arrange for a viewing. Viewings do however only take place at certain times of the year.
Do you offer competitive sport?
No we do not. In both Montessori philosophy and according to experts in the field of Sports Science, competitive sport before the high school years is not conducive to developing a lifelong commitment to exercise and fitness. We have a specially designed movement and fitness programme that is aimed at meeting the needs of each developmental stage. All of the children, from toddlers to the oldest primary child, participate in the movement and fitness programme throughout the week. Our aim is to develop a lifelong love of exercise and movement. The children do learn about the skills and rules associated with different sports and compete within themselves but we do not compete with other schools.
Another reason for not competing with other schools is because we are a diverse school community and do not discriminate on any level. It is thus not possible for usto uphold our values by, at times, being asked to exclude girls from a team.
Do you offer bursaries?
No we do not offer bursaries. We do not receive any form of funding or subsidy and rely totally on school fees to fund our school. Due to low child: teacher ratios, we are not able to offer reduced fees or bursaries.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Yes we do – in limited numbers. Roughly 10% of each class is made up of children with special needs that are known to us at the time of enrolment.
Is the School registered with the authorities?
Yes our school is registered with the Eastern Cape Department of Basic Education as an Independent School and has an EMIS number. Our school is also a member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA). Please see the link to our latest Quality Assurance Report, conducted by the Independent Quality Assurance Agency (IQAA), under USEFUL LINKS.
